Guidelines

Visit our Khimairal Ink blog for up to date information on our submission guidelines and to discuss Khimairal Ink.

Khimairal Ink is a literary magazine dedicated to the best in both genre and mainstream lesbian fiction. The protagonist must be a lesbian and the story must be character-driven, well-written, and well-plotted. Let your imagination soar and send us only your best writing.

We accept literary, science fiction, fantasy, slipstream, mystery, adventure, and supernatural stories. We’re not interested in horror, erotica, strong sexual situations, over-used profanity, or extreme violence. Dark stories, if well-written, are welcome but the stories we most enjoy are positive, thought-provoking, and clever.

We are looking for original unpublished stories but will also consider previously published stories and short excerpts from novels if the excerpts stand on their own. We don’t want to see stories that are widely available on the Internet, but will consider stories previously published in e-zines. No simultaneous submissions please.

Length: Up to 8000 words

Payment: $5.00 a story for first electronic rights for four months. Each issue is on the Web site for four months and then archived in the back issues for as long as the author permits it.

We look forward to seeing your submissions.

Submission procedure:

Send to: k-inksubmissions@bedazzledink.com

In the Subject line put “Submission:[Name of Story]

No need for a “cover letter.” List your name, address, email address and approximate word count. Drop down a couple of lines and insert your story. Insert a line between each paragraph to make it easier to read and separate scenes with a #. Put “END” at the end, so we know that nothing has been cut off at the bottom.

Make sure the “smart quotes” are turned off when you prepare the manuscript for copying and pasting into the body of the email to prevent them from being replaced by nonsense characters.
